Same cricket. Same fees.
Three ways to pay.
Pay by Bank: what members would see
- 1. ClubOSChoose fees and tap Pay.
- 2. Stripe checkoutChoose Pay by Bank, then your bank.
- 3. Your bankApprove in your banking app or online banking.
- 4. Back to ClubOSSee confirmation after successful payment.
Stripe confirms the payment so ClubOS can mark the fees paid. A Stripe receipt is available; email delivery depends on receipt settings.
Keep cards: convenience and choice
Familiar checkout; saved cards and Apple Pay / Google Pay can make paying quicker where available. Useful for members who prefer cards or cannot use a supported bank.
Trade-off: higher processing fees for the club. Some card payments also need bank approval.
Pay by Bank: lower club costs
Lower processing fees, with Stripe confirmation and receipts after successful payment. Members choose their bank and approve each payment in their banking app or online banking.
Trade-off: a bank approval step each time, and supported bank access is required. Keep cards available so members have a choice.
Imagine a senior player plays four matches: two at £12.50 with tea and two at £8.50 without tea. They owe the club £42. Here is what each option would cost the club.
| Option | How the player pays | Processing cost | Club keeps |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Current Stripe cards1.5% + 20p per payment | Pays by card after each match. Four separate payments. | £1.44 | £40.56 |
| 2. Stripe Pay by Bank0.5% + 20p per payment · £5 fee cap | Approves each payment in their banking app. Four separate payments. | £1.00 | £41.00 |
| 3. Group fees; keep Stripe cards1.5% + 20p, charged once | Pays one itemised £42 bill by card after four matches. One combined payment. | £0.83 | £41.17 |
| Payment option | Season cost | Saving vs current cards |
|---|---|---|
| Current cards | £927.10 | — |
| Pay by Bank | £485.60 | £441.50 (47.6%) |
| Grouped cards | £759.35 | £167.75 (18.1%) |
Where does £927.10 come from?
Match fees: £396.00. 5 teams × 11 players × 20 weekends = 1,100 payments. Half are £12.50 (39p card fee each); half are £8.50 (33p each). So 550 × 39p + 550 × 33p = £396.00.
Annual memberships: £531.10. 250 separate payments at the membership prices below, each charged 1.5% + 20p.
Total Stripe card fees: £396.00 + £531.10 = £927.10. This is the processing cost on £43,600 collected, using our illustrative payment counts.
Which banks can members pay from? Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Santander, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, First Direct, TSB, Nationwide, Monzo, Revolut, Danske Bank and Ulster Bank. These are UK accounts listed for Xero’s Stripe-powered Pay by Bank service; we will confirm availability in Dartford’s checkout before launch. The club keeps its existing Stripe payout bank.
Combine both savings: grouping the same £42 and paying by bank costs £0.41. In this season model, grouped Pay by Bank costs £323.35 — saving £603.75 (65.1%) versus separate card payments.
Why the season result differs: grouping saves fixed charges on match fees only. Pay by Bank also reduces the percentage fee on larger annual subscriptions.
Season model: 5 teams × 11 regular players × 20 weekends at the match-fee mix above, plus 250 assumed annual memberships totalling £32,050 at Dartford’s published rates. Total collections £43,600. No junior match fees. Grouped fees are collected every four playing weeks; memberships remain one annual payment each.
Membership assumptions behind the season example
60 senior memberships × £200; 20 senior concessions × £145; 60 juniors (Year 5+) × £130; 40 juniors (Year 4 and below) × £110; 20 junior siblings × £95; 20 ladies × £100; 30 social × £35. These counts are illustrative, not club records.
Card processing fees for those groups, in the same order: 60 × £3.20 + 20 × £2.38 + 60 × £2.15 + 40 × £1.85 + 20 × £1.63 + 20 × £1.70 + 30 × £0.73 = £531.10. Each fee is rounded to the nearest penny before multiplying by the number of payments.
Estimates, not the club’s actual Stripe bill. Fees rounded to the nearest penny per transaction, using Stripe’s published standard UK card and domestic GBP Pay by Bank rates. Confirm Dartford’s account pricing before launch. Savings percentages compare processing fees with the £927.10 card baseline, not total club income. Bank scenarios assume all modelled payments use Pay by Bank; keeping some card payments reduces the saving. Extra platform fees, development, refunds and failures excluded. Pay by Bank still pays out through Stripe; grouping means the club receives money later.
